I Want Rasputia Confidence

In 2007 the movie Norbit came out.  I was 30.  I didn't see it. I didn't want to see another movie that would attack fat women. Which meant it was attacking me.  I have been fat most of my life and struggled with my self esteem most of that time also.  So I didn't see a need to put myself through that.

Fast forward 6 years.  It’s Sunday and nothing is on TV worth. Norbit comes on. I'm in a different place with myself esteem.  I've learned to accept and even love my fat body. I watch it. Two major things hit me about the movie. One, Eddie Murphy is a great actor. Two, I want Rasputia confidence.

Rasputia rocks any outfit she can fit in and likes.  She didn't care about who looked or said whatever.  She even told the "pretty skinny" girl to put some meat on her bones.  Now I know Rasputia was the "bad guy" in the movie but I'm just speaking from a confidence stand point.  She wore her bikini, not a tankini or a high waist bikini. You know the suits they say are ok for fat people to wear.  No not her she wore the real thing and dared you to say something about it.  She also wore her white tank and jean cut offs.

I aspire to have this type of confidence.  I'm much farther along in my journey then I was when this movie first came out.  I'm not saying I'm going to run out and buy a string bikini but the next time I see a short skirt that's cute I won’t just walk away saying that's for a small chick.  I will try it on and if I like it I will rock.

Who knew a comedy could be so deep lol.

We Love Purple

My sister and I are giving my niece a Baby Shower in two weeks.  She's having a Girl.  I'm so excited.  My niece and I favorite color is Purple.  So of course this baby girl is going to be a purple baby.  The decorations and cake will all have purple.  So all the immediate family (her husband, other children, her brother, her mother/ my sister and myself) are required to wear purple

Its going to be a laid back type of affair with cookout type food.  So I've come up with a great outfit option that wont kill my bank account.

Skirt QVC $19.86
Shoes Payless $14.99
Top The TinyHobo 24.99
Not bad as far as cost.  I already have the skirt.  I normally wouldn't spend that much on a tank but I love the massages it sends; natural hair and fat acceptance. Plus it so cute.
What do you think?

Self Love

I discovered this great blog & blogger  She is awesome.  Her beliefs of loving yourself where you are so refreshing. She is passionate about being who she is and not letting anyone's issues with fat people affect her.

In this picture she took the Special K ad and redid it with accepting yourself. Special K says once you lose weight you'll feel happiness, grace, pride, and confidence. How about feeling all those things where you are now?  What's wrong with having happiness, grace, pride, and confidence in your current body? Nothing.

I hope you check her blog out and be as inspired as I am.

OOTD: Thanks QVC

Hey everyone I think I mentioned on here a couple of time I shop QVC but I don't think I've ever told said why.

Here are my top reasons.

1.      It’s easy. I watch the program, see something I like, order it and it come straight to my house.

2.      They have nice items that you won’t see everywhere.

3.      Easy Pay, it like lay-a-way but better because you get your items now not months later when you probably forgot about it.  I have lost money like that.

4.      Every size pays the same price.  Being plus size I get so tired of paying $5-$10 more for the same shirt. Really…. Did it cost you that much to add a couple of inches of material?

So thank you QVC for the Brushed French Terry Boyfriend Jacket  and the  "DreamJeannes" Tall 5PKT Knit Denim Boot Cut

Loved the jacket/blazer so much I went back for a second color.  You’ll see it on a future post.

36 & Fab

I'm 36 years old.  Wow how time goes by.  I hosted my first dinner party for my birthday. I kept it small, 6 people but we had a blast.  I already posted the pictures on facebook I just wanted to spot light my dress..

I've been waiting almost a year to wear this dress. I got it from my local thrift store.  I don't remember the actual price but it was no more then $5.  One of my best thrift store finds.

Looking forward to a great year with new experiences and lot of laughs.

Ok I have no idea why my pictures came out so big, lol, but I'm posting them anyway.  :-)

New Due

Those who know me or read this blog know I rock my natural hair with its natural texture.  Recently I changed shampoos because I ran out. It is a little expensive and I didn't have the money to order it. So I pick up a less expensive, very popular shampoo.  It recked my hair.  I will not name the shampoo because both my daughter use this shampoo and it works fine for them so it might just be my hair. My hair was so stiff I couldn't move it at all.  So it came to a point in my mind that I had to do something.  Now normally I would just go to the barber shop and cut it all off but I promised my daughter the last time I cut it that I would never do that again. So sense, I think, the spring of 2011 I have not cut my hair. Instead I went to a salon "The Hair Company USA Dominican Hair Salon".  They did an awesome job.  I would totally recommend this salon to anyone with natural hair that gets blow outs to go there.  The bonus was they were really nice about my hair.  Most salons I've been to complain or make issues about me having such long, thick hair.  Like I can control what God gave me.

By the way I will tell you what "shampoo" I use.  I use WEN.  Its great for my hair.  It makes my hair soft, shinny and manageable.  I normally order Fig or the seasonal flavors like Pumpkin.  If you decide to try it out go to QVC its cheaper then ordering it from the WEN website.

So here is some before and after pictures.

Working Out My Curves

I'm not sure if anyone noticed but I have a new badge on my page. Team Healthy Curves.  One of my favorite blogger Jessica Kane started Team Healthy Curves movement

Its not a weight loss movement, its a get healthy movement. Which we should all strive to be healthy.

In my journey to be more healthy I go to the gym. I aim for at least 3 times a week. If I'm not able to make it to the gym I use DVDs at home.  What are you doing to improve your heath?

I always feel good after My workouts.  I do need to some new gym wear; something purple or fuchsia.

I was attempting to show you my sweat. That pic didn't work out so well lol.  I'm still learning.

Finally my recreated Khloe Kardashian Odom outfit

OK I've been trying to do this forever.  I picked a picture that just spoke to me. See the January 28th post.  So here is her picture again.

So here we go.  As I said before I had the belt already but when I went to put the outfit on ..... the belt was to small.  Yes, I gain weight. Such is life. I had to modify.  Instead of my leopard print being in my belt it's my shoes. Which I love and still looks great with the red jeggings.

My son when he came in a saw me he said "Mom, you look good. Where you going?"  My daughter said " I feeling the red. Looking good."
Mission accomplished.

New Project: Couponing

OK just wanted to share. I been working on a little project; couponing.  I'm not trying to take it to the extreme like on that TLC "Extreme Couponing" show. I just wanted to see how much I can save on things I really buy.  Its so much great information and blogs out there to help.  In my situation being a single mom of four, unemployed, living off unemployment I can use all the help I can get.  Anyway I did my coupon matching for this week sales in my local stores, made my list, cut my coupons then off to the store I went.

So for my first couponing trip I felt good about my results.  I learned that my shopping list needs to be more detailed; such as how many of each item I can buy and what size the items are.  Out of seven coupons I wasn't able to use two due to size miss match.  Then one coupon I couldn't use because the item was sold out.  I did talk to the sales associate, she knows my face because I'm a regular customer, so she told me to come back in the morning for the new shipment.  Anyway I'm not going to list everything I saved on but I will tell you what I was most happy about was my  savings on Always Pads. Yes I'm excited about savings on pads. I have teenage daughters so imagine how much I spend on things like this.  Okay regular price is $9.98, it was on sale 2 for $14.00, with my coupons I got 2 for $5.50.  See why I was so excited..

I just wanted to share my accomplishment of the day.  Anyone else getting great deals please share.

Monday, January 28, 2013

I haven't posted in so long. I can come up with so many reasons but I guess the real reason is I'm a little depressed.  I'm still out of work. Its been sense August 2012. I know there is lots of people in my situation.  I realize I'm blessed because I'm still able to take care of my family with help from God, family and unemployment.

I've been reading other's blogs and really miss doing my own post.  So here I am.

Ok here is a picture I've been holding on to. I wanted to recreate.  First let me say I love
Khloe Kardashian Odom.  I watch the show really just for her. When she was doing Khloe & Lamar I stop watching the other show lol.  I pray all the bad stuff they print about the marriage is not true.  I want to believe they have true love and commitment.   Okay, enough talk. Here's the picture

So this picture is not fancy but I love the look.  You will not believe how hard it has been to find a denim top and red jeggings in my size and length with in my budget.  As you know I shop thrift stores and discount spots. I had the belt already.  So my next post will have my version of this outfit. And I promise it won't take three months.
